THE BARE STORY
President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a campaign rally Thursday in Sioux City, Iowa, alongside Republican Representative Ashley Hinson, who is running for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat.
Hinson faces Democratic state Representative Josh Turek in a race that has drawn attention ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Trump’s visit is part of his efforts to support Republican candidates.
Trade and agriculture policy have emerged as issues in Iowa. Hinson has said she opposes the administration’s decision to reduce tariffs on some imported beef, while Turek has criticized her previous votes supporting tariffs.
Hinson has also said she would support Trump when she believes it benefits Iowa and oppose him when necessary. She has said she raised concerns with Trump about trade measures aimed at increasing Chinese purchases of U.S. soybeans.
