Left Perspective
• Call to distinguish "rioters" from ordinary protesters Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has urged authorities to take decisive action, stating that "rioters must be put in their place." In his remarks, he emphasized the need to differentiate these individuals from ordinary citizens who are participating in the demonstrations.
• Allegations of foreign incitement and internal security threats Khamenei claimed, without providing evidence, that foreign powers are inciting the current unrest across the country. Security officials also pointed to violence against state forces, including the death of a Basij volunteer, and alleged that a man killed in Qom was planning an attack.
• Defiance against American warnings and military pressure In response to warnings from the U.S. President regarding the protests, some Iranian officials reportedly issued threats against U.S. troops. This stance follows a period of heightened conflict, during which the U.S. reportedly bombed Iranian nuclear sites in June.
