Filmmaker Rob Reiner and Wife Found Deceased; Son Arrested

Director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday. Law enforcement officials have taken their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, into custody in connection with the deaths.

According to police, Nick Reiner was arrested on Sunday night. Authorities are preparing to present their case against him to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday for consideration of murder charges. One report, citing law enforcement sources, stated that the couple’s daughter discovered their bodies.

One account, citing a former family security guard, claimed that Nick Reiner had been living on his parents’ property. The same account, based on information from unnamed sources, also alleged that Rob and Nick Reiner had an argument the night before the deaths were discovered. Nick Reiner has previously spoken publicly about his struggles with drug addiction, which was the basis for the 2016 film "Being Charlie," a project he worked on with his father.

Rob Reiner, an Emmy-winning actor for his role in "All in the Family," was also a celebrated director of films such as "When Harry Met Sally..." and "The Princess Bride." In a statement, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called the deaths a devastating loss. The family of Norman Lear also released a statement expressing their devastation over the loss of Reiner, whom they considered a son.
