• A person of interest has been taken into custody. Providence police officials confirmed the apprehension of an individual in their 30s at a hotel in Coventry, approximately 17 miles from the university. Chief Col. Oscar Perez stated that a tip from the public led to the detention, but declined to identify the person or state their affiliation with the university, citing the ongoing investigation.
• The university canceled all remaining academic activities for the semester. In response to the attack, which occurred during final exams, Brown University's Provost Francis Doyle announced the cancellation of all remaining classes, exams, and papers. Students were informed that they were free to return home.
• University and city officials are providing support and monitoring survivors. The university has made support services available to the community in the aftermath of the shooting. Providence Mayor Smiley also visited survivors at a local hospital, where eight of the nine wounded individuals were still receiving treatment as of Sunday.
