Maryland Governor Wes Moore is facing questions regarding academic and biographical details he provided in a 2006 application for a White House fellowship. The governor's office was unable to produce a copy of the thesis, and several academic experts on radical Islam reportedly stated they had not encountered Moore's work.
The 2006 application reportedly contained other discrepancies. One report states Moore claimed to be a doctoral candidate at Oxford, but his office and the university declined to provide evidence of enrollment. The same report notes he claimed induction into a non-existent college football hall of fame. Moore also claimed to have received a Bronze Star at the time of the application; he has since called this an "honest mistake" and later received the honor as governor. The governor has not personally provided an explanation for the academic situation.
