Left Perspective
• Ukraine is enduring a large-scale Russian assault on its infrastructure. According to Ukraine's air force, Russia launched 653 drones and 51 missiles in an overnight barrage. Ukrainian officials stated these attacks hit 29 locations, primarily targeting energy infrastructure, and wounded at least eight people. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported that a drone strike destroyed the train station in the city of Fastiv.
• Ukrainian forces are successfully defending the country and striking back. The Ukrainian military stated that its air defenses were able to intercept a majority of the incoming threats, downing 585 drones and 30 missiles. In addition to its defensive operations, the general staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces claimed to have conducted a successful strike on the Ryazan Oil Refinery inside Russia.
• Kyiv is pursuing a diplomatic resolution while demanding security guarantees. A Ukrainian delegation met with U.S. envoys for "constructive discussions" aimed at establishing a security framework for a "lasting peace." Ukrainian representatives maintain that any potential deal must include security guarantees for their country. They also agree that meaningful progress depends on Russia committing to de-escalation.
