The Federal Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested a man in Virginia in connection with two pipe bombs placed near the U.S. Capitol on January 5, 2021. Patel alleged the prior investigation "sat on" evidence for four years, describing it as "sheer incompetence or complete intentional negligence." He stated that the FBI under his leadership used cell phone geolocation data and re-examined data dumps to identify the suspect.
