Based on the nature of the incident, the FBI is officially investigating it as a potential act of terrorism, according to authorities.
• The administration is deploying more troops to enhance security in the capital. In an immediate response to the shooting, the Trump administration announced the deployment of an additional 500 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. This action reinforces the existing anti-crime mission that the wounded service members were participating in.
