• A senior US Army delegation is visiting Kyiv to restart peace talks. A group of top Pentagon officials, led by Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and including the Army Chief of Staff, is in Kyiv for a multi-day visit. An Army spokesman stated the delegation’s purpose is to meet with Ukrainian counterparts to discuss ending the war and renewing stalled peace negotiations.
• Ukrainian officials view the visit as crucial for a new phase of the conflict. A Ukrainian official described the delegation's arrival as "extremely important" for what they termed a "decisive phase" of the war. The same official mentioned an agreement between Presidents Zelenskyy and Trump to halt the conflict along current lines, with the condition that Ukraine does not cede any territory.
• The US chose a military delegation to engage Russia, while Ukraine pursues parallel talks. According to a U.S. official, a military delegation was sent in the belief that its perspective might be more effective in discussions with Russia. In a separate diplomatic effort, President Zelenskyy also announced plans to meet with the Turkish president to discuss achieving a "just peace."
