• The Russian attack resulted in significant civilian casualties and injuries. According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the overnight assault killed at least 25 people, including three children, and injured 73 others. The majority of these deaths occurred in the western city of Ternopil, where two residential buildings were struck.
• Current international support is insufficient to defend against Russian aggression. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the scale of the attack proves that the existing pressure on Russia is not enough. In response, he called for more military assistance from allies, specifically requesting expanded air defense capabilities to protect the country.
• Diplomatic efforts are focused on isolating Russia and seeking peace. President Zelenskyy was visiting Turkey to rally support for increasing Russia's diplomatic isolation. Concurrently, a U.S. official confirmed an American delegation was in Ukraine attempting to help restart peace talks.
