Left Perspective
• Prosecutors allege a clear motive for the killing. Officials claim Brian Walshe murdered his wife, Ana Walshe, after discovering she was having an affair. They also suggest he may have believed that becoming the sole caretaker for their three children could help him avoid a prison sentence related to a separate federal art fraud conviction.
• Incriminating evidence was reportedly recovered by investigators. According to the prosecution, items including a hatchet, a hacksaw, and clothing belonging to Ana Walshe were found in a dumpster near the residence of Walshe’s mother. Investigators also say they found evidence that Walshe had searched online for information on how to dispose of a body.
• Walshe has admitted to misleading police and mishandling a body. Brian Walshe pleaded guilty to misleading police and the unlawful conveyance of a human body, even as he denies the murder charge. Prosecutors stated this guilty plea was not part of a negotiated deal, and the trial for murder will proceed separately.
